Tripp and Karen spent the first weekend of the 2008-2009 ski season at Kirkwood with their friends Marc and Jess. As Karen’s second season of snowboarding, she is progressing quickly, while Tripp is happy to help her embrace the sport.
On the Sunday after Thanksgiving, while the family was still all together, the Space Shuttle was diverted from landing at its typical location in Florida due to weather. It gave us the special opportunity to watch it land and then unload at Edwards Air Force Base. Thanks Grant for keeping us in the loop and the great viewing location.
Over Thanksgiving, the brothers decided a little friendly competition was called for and spent the afternoon racing cars. The indoor electric kart track was wholly unprepared for what the brothers would dish out. Ultimately, Andrew took home the cup, with the remainder crying foul of this-and-that. A rematch will ultimately resolve the protests.
2008 marked Tripp’s re-entry into the sport of Triathlon with completion of the Wildflower Olympic course. Wildflower represents one of the more challenging courses in the nation. Its hilly bike and run, combined with a reasonably chilly swim, provide an excellent opportunity to push your athletic limits. Tripp finished predictably strong in the swim, while loosing much of the ground gained during the bike. His run was solid but did not gain him more than a place or two.
